Exhibition Sign-up

Exhibition Sign-up
1st Semester - Wetherbee
We are quickly approaching our first round of exhibitions this year.  I know the children have been working hard, and we are all excited to see what they can do.  At least one important adult from home needs to be present at the exhibition.  This can be mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, aunt, uncle, close family friend, neighbor, etc.  We, the children and I, count on you being present at the time you sign up for.  I always plan nearly a week ahead, so trying to cancel or change times really interferes with my plans and the students’ learning.  I understand the emergences do happen, but there always seems to be a spike in emergencies around exhibition time (if you catch my hint).  Please mark (preferably rank 1st, 2nd, 3rd) your preferences.  Spots are given on a first-come, first-served basis.  I’ll keep the blog up-to-date, so check there to see what times are still available.  I will return this sheet confirming your scheduled time.   If you have any questions feel free to email me at twetherb@umich.edu or call me at 313-874-9800.

Weekend Writing

Prompt: What are you thankful for? Why?

This should be a well written paper with good detail.  It should be one good paragraph at an absolute minimum.  Three good paragraphs is the goal we are working towards (quickly).

Missing Homework

There is a new missing homework sheet in the students' mailboxes today.  I am giving you this again today because after next week all missing assignments will be considered missing forever.  The gradebook will be locked by the office beginning with the Thanksgiving break.  No matter how much you beg or plead, I will be unable to change grades once the gradebook is locked.  I will also be throwing away the stack of no-name assignments at that point as well.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Homework

Homework tonight is to study the math test review packet (#1-12) and have a parent sign off on the studying.

Complete the packet including #13-17.

Homework

Milestone 2 is due tomorrow.  Milestone 2 is completed notes for the exhibition.  Notes can be in nearly any format, but we have discussed several methods in class.  The notes should be enough information for at least 10 minutes of talking.  So, tonight's homework is to complete Milestone 2.

New Homework Notification

I would like to try a new way of letting parents and students know what the nightly homework is.  Rather than updating the homework tab, I am going to post a quick blog update stating the homework with any additional thoughts.

So, tonight's homework is to complete the math worksheet called Keeping a Bank Balance.

Any feedback on this new approach would be appreciated.

Progress Reports Sent Home

Here is the letter that went home with progress reports.  I would like confirmation of parent seeing reports.  You can sign the read note that went home (listed below), or you may email me stating that you've read the report.

Progress Reports – 11/14/11
This is our first try with the new progress reports.  There are a few glitches that I’m already aware of.  First, many of us did not know that the advisory section of the report would show up, which is why it still blank.  Second, I don’t believe the attendance is correct for many students.  I’m trying to get to the bottom of it.  Third, progress for science and social studies didn’t print on the report.  Please let me know if you have any questions, and I will contact you if I have any new concerns.  Please sign this note acknowledging that you’ve seen and read your child’s progress report.

Movie Permission Slip

Holes by Louis Sachar

Don't forget your movie permission slip for Wednesday. I will also accept emails if that is easier. Remember, no permission slip -- no movie. See you tomorrow.
