SAMPLE CLASS PARAGRAPH:

 

There are many things that I am excited about seeing at the University of Michigan.  Every Saturday in the fall I watch Michigan football on television with my dad and grandpa.  One place I am excited to see is Michigan Stadium.  Another location I am excited about is the dormitory.  I have heard so much about dorms, and I've always wanted to see one.  This is a great chance for me to finally see a dorm.  A final thing I am excited about is seeing where college students go to class. I am interested in seeing if their classrooms are the same or different than ours.  These are just a few of the many things I am excited about seeing at the University of Michigan.

 

A paragraph is a complete idea, which includes a topic, support, and closing.

NOT JUST ANY 5 SENTENCES!!!!!

 

Prompt: Write a reflection on our visit to the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  Paragraph 1 should be about your first impressions.  What did you notice?  What surprised you? Etc.  Paragraph 2 should be about your favorite part of the trip.  Paragraph 3 should be about what we could do to make this trip better for the next group of kids.  Don't say nothing.  Be creative and helpful.

February is "Black History Month," a time to commemorate African-Americans and events that have changed the world.

 

Celebrating Black History began in 1926, when Dr. Carter G. Woodson, a Harvard Ph.D., initiated "Negro History Week." Dr. Woodson, a historian, chose the second week in February because it included the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln. In 1976, the week-long observance was extended to the entire month of February in order to have enough time for celebratory programs and activities.

 

Do you believe that Black History Month limits the recognition of African Americans? Why or why not?

 

• Write at least 3 paragraphs to answer these questions.
• Each paragraph needs to include at least 5 complete sentences
• Make sure to indent each paragraph and to use your margins correctly.
• Don't forget to check your spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
